BluesPrints offers a rare selection of original photographic
images of some of the greats of American Blues.
For decades, Blues musicians travelled a southern route from
Mississippi through Louisiana and Texas, playing in small
bars and road houses to lively audiences. The route also passed
up through Memphis to Chicago.
In the mid 1970's, the route through Texas included The Continental
Club, Liberty Hall, JB's, the Texas Opry House, and La Bastille,
to name a few. These were small, intimate, no frills clubs
where the small audiences could be close enough to feel the
music and interact with their heroes.
Photographer Ralph Fales was fortunate enough to be there
with his camera to see, meet, and photograph some of these
legends before this special era ended.
These photographs were taken in the natural low light surroundings,
without flash so performances were not disrupted and the real
environment portrayed. The magic of this time and place are
captured in the images here and offered to collectors for
the first time.
The original negatives have been stored for the last 30 years
and are only now being printed and offered to collectors.
If you are interested in purchasing any of the photographs,
select the print(s) you want and go through the brief ordering
process.
We also will offer unique photographs of important, but perhaps
lesser known artists from jazz, reggae, and rock not available
anywhere else. These will be added to the site as we identify
quality images from our archive.
This site is for those who love the blues, know the importance
of this era and the fact that it will never come again.
